Kellie Pickler is your Season 16 Dancing with the Stars winner.
When the former American Idol star heard host Tom Bergeron announce that she and partner Derek Hough won, she was almost at a loss for words.
“Oh my god,†exclaimed an ecstatic Pickler, saying she never for a minute envisioned prevailing. “No, not at all. This is amazing. Oh my God!!!â€
“Grandpa Ken, we got you the trophy, buddy,†cheered Hough.
That would be a reference to Kellie's grandfather, Ken Morton, a longtime fan of the dance show who's been following K-Pick every week.
"Right before I left Nashville for L.A., my Grandpa Ken, who is a huge fan of the show, told me he was praying that Derek would be my partner," she said.
"That's his favorite male dancer on the show," Kellie Pickler said of Derek and her grandpa earlier this season. "Now I think he's praying that we win!"
Consider his prayers answered.
Pickler and Hough earned two perfect scores of 30 on Monday night, along with another perfect score of 30 for her “Instant Dance†to the jive Tuesday.
Their total of 94 points was actually one behind runner-up Zendaya's 95, but fans' votes comprise half the overall total, and Kellie won in the end.
Zendaya was gracious in defeat, as was third-place finisher Jacoby Jones, who hoisted Pickler high upon his shoulders in triumph after she won.
