Now in the last leg of its muscle-bound advertising campaign, Zack Snyderâs Man of Steelhas just one month left to attract the dozen or so people who arenât already drowning in all of the promotional material. But as is proven in the above TV spot â" the filmâs fifth thus far â" itâs hard to get tired of blockbuster action when it looks this exciting. Especially with Russell Croweâs sage words as the voiceover.
âYouâve grown stronger here than we ever could have imagined. The only way to know how strong is to keep testing your limits.â Dangerous advice from a father to his son, but if anyone is capable of heeding it, itâs the big guy in blue. This many TV spots in, thereâs not much new footage to be scavenged, but there is a cool shot of General Zod (Michael Shannon) and Jor-El (Crowe) going head to head that I donât immediately remember having seen before, though it probably did pop up somewhere. We see him catch giant steel girders. We see him fly through space. We see him save a visibly awestruck Lois from a plane. Itâs the same old Superman schtick, but I canât deny the sense of suspenseful dread that the more action-filled previews convey.
âYou can save them. You can save all of them.â Supermanâs flight has gotten a major push through these previews, posters and banners, and we already know he can affect his own sense of time by flying around the Earth a bunch of times. So weâre wondering if he could zoom forward in time to the filmâs 2D, 3D and IMAX release on June 14, and if we can get a piggyback ride â" a superpiggyback ride. Unless of course Jor-El wasnât referring to saving us from having to live another month without watching this flick. That would be just like Jor-El.
