Britney Spears is squarely in Miley Cyrus' camp, despite the recent criticism over her Twerking, grinding, tongue-wagging and naked riding of wrecking balls.
The 31-year-old superstar, who confirmed her Vegas residency on Good Morning America this morning, was also asked about Miles' recent antics.
"I think any time you do a performance that is that memorable, you're going to have criticism," Spears said. "I think she's doing her thing. She's being herself."
"So, I give props to her."
It shouldn't come as a surprise that Spears was unfazed by Miley Cyrus Twerking with Robin Thicke or swinging nude in her "Wrecking Ball" video.
The "Work Bitch" singer made jaw-dropping VMAs appearances like it was her job back in the day ... guess it was her job, come to think of it. Crazy.
In 2000, she stripped to a nude body suit for "Satisfaction" and "Oops I Did It Again." Then she grabbed a snake for 2001's rendition of "I'm A Slave 4 U."
Two years later, she kissed Madonna. It was awesome.
No doubt, shock value is a common denominator here. Justin Timberlake, who used to date Britney, made that connection in similarly defending Miley.
“Madonna: Wedding suit, humping the stage. Britney: Strip tease. This is not an uncommon thing,†Justin told a CBS affiliate a few weeks ago.
“Listen, man, you know, it’s the VMAs. What did you guys expect? I like Miley. I like her a lot. I think, you know, she’s young," the superstar went on.
"She’s letting everyone know that she’s growing up. I just think it’s the VMAs. It’s not like she did it at the Grammys. Let her do her thing. You know?â€
